Eerie evening glow

Big Oak Vortex

The Big Oak in Thomasville occupies a unique place in the community. At over 300 years in age and almost 30 feet in circumference, this tree located about four blocks from the center of town has a presence. When I first visited the tree I was a bit bothered by some of the old systems used to support massive limbs. Iron chains and props just didn't feel right but maybe they serve more than one purpose. Weird things happen around this tree just saying.

Reading these tales made me feel like I was walking through Thomasville’s eerie Victorian streets myself.

The stories bring the town’s haunted history to life in a way that’s both spooky and charming.
